It is not uncommon that many walking beside each and every one of us
are plagued with apathy- the lack of caring. In my life a few years
ago it was almost everyone I knew. Not one seemed to care for who I was
becoming or what I was doing not only to myself but to those around me. Not one until a lovely Spirit-filled woman of God cared to take a second look at me and listened to the nudge of God.

Sandy Cross was that woman. My family and I moved back to our town where our first church had been. I started going to the middle school youth group, where my dear Sandy taught. At first I was quiet, and you would say I was quite the secular one in appearance- but somehow through all my put-up Sandy saw something in me yearning for God. She was the first person I met truly looking at me as if I had potential to be the something great God had created me for. A little bit about Sandy- she is a sweet heart to the core. You can't meet her and not feel her passion and tenderness for God. She has so much wisdom, yet she is also so humble and so loving.
An apathetic god isn't much hope for anyone- is it now? Of course not! Sandy showed me God's compassion for me, she showed me that God does care and that He wanted me to be the someone He created me to be. Our God is not an apathetic God, and thank Him for it! God allowed Sandy a way to witness to me- without even the simplest of words. Her actions- her works- showed me all of what I needed to see of God. Without being showed that He was my hope, then I wouldn't be writing this today. I wouldn't have had the opportunity one day, many years ago to truly sanctify myself for Him and accept that I was to be a martyr for my Christ. A Christian shouldn't live both apathetically and caring. You can only be one or the other. I choose to be caring- apathy does no good. It actually is a false testimony to our God, it leads others away from Christ. I challenge us all to be caring and loving and show others that God is hope, that He is our everything and can change even the greatest, the lowest of sinners.
