Hey Team,
I found this video a while ago on YouTube. If you’ve ever typed in something like Christianity on YouTube you’ve probably seen this video on the top of the list.
It’s about 4 minutes long, but really it’s worth the time.
This video is really a challenge for Christians to be genuine, and to live the life they claim to live and follow the Jesus that they claim love so much. This video really convicts me each time that I watch it because there is a lot of truth to what is said in it and it points out a lot of my faults.
In Swaziland there will be fewer things to get in between us and God than here in the U.S. (hopefully), you could say ministry will be easier (even though Satan is fighting it) because ministry is why we are going to Swaziland. The challenge is in the next 35 days or so before the trip, are we going to be just as willing and ready to live the life and talk the talk that a Christian should where ever we are?
I also want to challenge you to think about how you can share your faith with the people that you meet in Swaziland, God will work out all the details and he is the one that changes hearts. It is our duty though to be able to testify in such a way that God is made great in our lives. It sounds like many of us have some awesome stories of how God has moved in us and transformed our lives, so be ready to share it!
But also be ready to listen. Sometimes Christians can speed through the gospel so fast in the 3 minutes that they can grab the person’s attention in, they neglect to show the person love. A better way is to just ask them questions and listen. I found last year the most effective way to ministry is to be open and to care about the person you are with more than yourself. We are guests in Swaziland, and we are there make disciples, while there is a time for simply preaching the Word, we need to realize that there must be some genuine love shown to these people (and I think we all know that).
Matthew 5 says in verses 14- 16 says“You are the light of the world. A city on a hill cannot be hidden. Neither
do people light a lamp and put it under a bowl. Instead they put it on
its stand, and it gives light to everyone in the house. In the same way, let your light shine before men, that they may see your good deeds and praise your Father in heaven.
Anyone can spew out the words of the Gospel message, but few can show Jesus’ love for people in such a way that the gospel is presented with out words, and I think that is something we should all work on doing. Correct me if I am wrong on that, but if the old phrase “actions speak louder than words,” is true, then this should be pretty true.
Have a blessed day!
