My name is Shannon, I grew up in Port Washington Wisconsin my whole life, but I had a passion for Alaska. I live with my mom and sister and three large dogs. I have gone to Alaska three times to work at a dog kennel; two summers and one winter. Before Christ, I had wanted to race in the Jr. Iditarod sled dog race, and wanted to go to college at the University of Alaska Southeast to study marine biology, but things happened and plans changed. When I gave my life to Christ, my whole life changed. I still love Alaska and hope to go back some day, but I do not believe that is where God is leading me. In the winter I enjoy going mushing with my three dogs. In the summer I like to go scuba diving, kayaking, and sailing. I am homeschooling my last year of high school, but will still be able to participate in band, in which I play percussion. I have been playing drums for eight years now. In previous years I was on the track team as a varsity discus thrower, but since I will no longer be able to participate I will be helping my coach. I am homeschooling my last year so I can focus my studies on scripture and where God is leading me.

  1. Shannon,
welcome to the Swaziland team. Your love for Alaska is pretty obvious but your love for God is even greater in that you would drop your plans in oder to persue His. I prayer that as you study his word this year that you will draw closer to Him and His leading becomes clear to you.

  2. Welcome to the team. I love Alaska. It is so pretty up there. I went there for three weeks after 8th grade. Where were you when you were in Alaska? I am excited to see how the Lord uses you this summer in Swazi.

  3. Shannon- I look forward to getting to know you more this summer! You have some really neat hobbies! What an awesome oppurtunity you’ve had to focus your school year on studying scripture. I’m sure God has blessed your time in His Word.

  4. Hey Shannon! I can’t wait to get to know you. I’m quiet interested to hear about this “mushing” hobby you’re into…this West Texas girl has no concept for that! 🙂

  5. That’s awesome. I was up in Macalren River, which is right on the Denali Highway, between Anchorage and Fairbanks. I flew in to Anchorage and spent some time there also. Where were you at?
