One of my greatest problems in prayer is shutting up and waiting.  How many times do we go to God and from beginning to end we just talk and talk, say amen, and then get up off our knees and continue on with life?  How often do we go to our knees and just listen?  Truly listen?  Its certainly not the easiest thing to do, because we are constantly surrounded by noise and we don’t shut our mouths.   And then we complain about how we haven’t heard from God.  Finding that secluded place is so important, that place where you can get away from all the noise, so that God can be heard.  Isn’t it amazing that the one thing that the disciples asked Jesus to teach them was how to pray?  Makes me wonder how much we really know about prayer.  There is a lot I struggle with in prayer, and I’ve been learning to listen more often than speak.  Finding that place of sacred silence so that God can be heard has also been a struggle for me

Where do you find your sacred silence?
